It is the philosophy of St. James School that sports are
an integral part of education. Organized athletic activities
assist in the intellectual and physical development of the
student and play a large role in developing such skills
as good sportsmanship, discipline and team building. All
students are encouraged to participate in and support the
Athletics Program.
Sports offered in the fall season are Co-Ed Cross Country:
open to all interested students in the 3rd through 8th grades
and Girls and Boys Soccer: open to students in the 6th through
8th grades, by try-out.
Sports offered in the winter season are Girls and Boys
Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball and Girls and Boys
Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading. Winter varsity
sports are open to students in the 6th through 8th grades;
junior varsity sports are open to students in the 5th through
6th grades. All winter sports teams are selected by try-out.
Sports offered in the spring season are Co-Ed Track: open
to all interested students in the 4th to 8th grades; Girls
Varsity Softball and Boys Varsity Baseball: open to students
in the 7th and 8th grades, by try-out.
Sports Sign-Ups occur in the season preceding the designated
sport. There is a $40.00 athletic fee per student per season,
not to exceed $80.00 per family. This fee is refundable
if the student is not selected for a sport that requires
a try-out. Students must maintain passing grades in all
subjects to be eligible for participation in sports. In
addition, a current physical and medical release form must
be on file to try-out and participate in any sport at St.
James. All students must also sign an
Athletic Code of Conduct.

Coaches for the sports teams at St. James are volunteer
positions and are selected based on experience, interest and
commitment. Those interested in coaching availability may
get further information from the, Athletic Director, Tony
Flego, via the school business office. Partners for Excellence credits are available for coaching
activities.
