Athletics Program Overview

It is the philosophy of St. James School that sports are an integral part of education. Organized athletic activities assist in the intellectual and physical development of the student and play a large role in developing such skills as good sportsmanship, discipline and team building. All students are encouraged to participate in and support the Athletics Program.

Sports offered in the fall season are Co-Ed Cross Country: open to all interested students in the 3rd through 8th grades and Girls and Boys Soccer: open to students in the 6th through 8th grades, by try-out.

Sports offered in the winter season are Girls and Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball and Girls and Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Cheerleading. Winter varsity sports are open to students in the 6th through 8th grades; junior varsity sports are open to students in the 5th through 6th grades. All winter sports teams are selected by try-out.

Sports offered in the spring season are Co-Ed Track: open to all interested students in the 4th to 8th grades; Girls Varsity Softball and Boys Varsity Baseball: open to students in the 7th and 8th grades, by try-out.

Sports Sign-Ups occur in the season preceding the designated sport. There is a $40.00 athletic fee per student per season, not to exceed $80.00 per family. This fee is refundable if the student is not selected for a sport that requires a try-out. Students must maintain passing grades in all subjects to be eligible for participation in sports. In addition, a current physical and medical release form must be on file to try-out and participate in any sport at St. James. All students must also sign an Athletic Code of Conduct.
