Crop Walk

On Sunday, October 19, 2003, St. James School will be participating in the Red Bank Crop Walk. This community event consists of participants collecting pledges for a six-mile walk through the towns of Fair Haven, Little Silver, Shrewsbury and Red Bank. The money raised by the Crop Walk is used for aid throughout the world; however, special attention will be directed this year to the plight of the refugee and homeless populations. Twenty-five percent of the money raised is returned to local area partners including, Lunch Break, Habcore, Manna House and the Monmouth Day Care Center.

October 19th is also the day of the canonization of Mother Teresa who showed a special love for the poorest of the poor. Participating in the Crop Walk would be a great way to honor her spirit….so if you are in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade, sign up to make a difference in the lives of those suffering from hunger, homelessness and poverty. Community service hours are available. Keep your eyes open for more information or contact Susan Ryan at (732) 530-8064 if you are interested in participating.

“We walk because they walk – because millions of people around the world walk every day for food, for shelter, for water, for survival.”

Or if chocolate’s not in you game plan, stock up for Halloween. Either way, please help our athletes raise money for equipment, uniforms and gym/field rentals. Your participation is appreciated.

SJAA Golf Outing

The kids may be back at school…but it’s not too late for parents to get out and have some fun. Come join the St. James Athletic Association for its 2nd Annual Golf Classic on Monday, September 29, 2003 at the Bamm Hollow Country Club. Click here for all the details.

All will be in abundance at the PTA”s annual Harvest Social on Saturday, October 25th from 6:30 to 9:00 pm as the cafeteria is transformed into an Autumn Wonderland. Join the kids as they do the limbo, dance to the tunes of the DJ and enjoy other fun activities. But beware, this event is always well attended so be sure to buy your tickets early. Hope to see you there.
