St. James Development Committee The St. James Development Committee’s mission is to develop and maintain relationships with alumni, fundraise to secure new and increased sources of revenue to enhance the overall quality of our educational program and provide funding for structural improvements and maintenance at SJS. The most common question is, “What is Saint James Development and how is it different from the PTA?” The primary difference between Development and PTA is that the PTA’s bylaws require all monies earned during the school year must be spent within that school year. St. James Elementary School created the Development Committee to provide a way to earn and save money over multiple years to fund major projects, scholarship programs, and other initiatives beyond PTA’s scope.
