Saint James Before and After School Care

Saint James Preschool offers both before and after school care for children who are currently enrolled in the school.   Our program is designed to be a safe, stimulating environment for students whose family situations or schedules require childcare before and after school.

We truly hope to make our extended day program as close to a day at home as possible. We want the children enrolled in the program to feel comfortable and relaxed. We want our working parents to feel and know that their children are being cared for in a warm, caring, and safe learning environment under the guidance of a loving and dedicated staff.

Our program will operate only on days when school is in session. In order for your child to attend, your child must be registered for this program.   Please call the Business Office @ 732 741-3363 for more information.

·          Before school program hours are 7:30 AM - 8:45 AM.  This early morning program will offer a low-key atmosphere that provides children with a positive transition to the school day.  Children can choose activities such as quiet reading/story time, arts and crafts and table games. Parents of preschool students using the early drop off program must walk their preschooler into the school foyer to meet staff.

·          After school program hours are 1:45 PM - 5:30 PM.  This afternoon program offers children an opportunity to wind down from the school day. The program includes a nutritious snack, quiet time, arts and crafts, encourages creativity, socialization and exploration, outdoor and indoor free play in an independent and/or teacher directed classroom type environment.

Honeywell Alert System

Keeping parents informed and involved helps to assure student safety and improve student success. With today’s on-the-go lifestyles, it has become more difficult for schools to reach families quickly and effectively. This is why our school has decided to implement a system called Honeywell Instant Alert for Schools.

Instant Alert for Schools is an essential tool for notification and communication. Within minutes of an emergency, school officials can use Instant Alert to deliver a single, clear message to the students' parents or guardians by telephone, cell phone, e-mail, pager, or PDA in any combination. The system can be used to notify you of a school closing, or early closing, schedule changes or important school information.

Arrival

Please have your child at school on time. It is important for children to be in their classroom when activities begin, and late arrivals disrupt the learning environment for all the students in the class. There is no parking on Peters Place during the school year.   Preschool students are met at their cars by the Preschool aides and brought to the foyer where they are greeted by their teachers.   Drop off time is 8:35 - 8:45 AM.   Classes proceed to the Preschool classrooms at 8:45 AM.

Dismissal

The town of Red Bank permits 5 minute parking on the school side of Peters Place for dismissal.   Cars may line Peters Place anticipating dismissal no earlier than 11:40 AM for ˝ day 3 year old session, and 1:30 PM for full day programs.   The children will be brought to the front entrance of the school for dismissal.   Please remain in your car until the line moves forward and your car is at the front entrance of the school. You may also park on an adjacent street and wait for your child at the front entrance of the school.

Show and Tell

Show and Tell is held once a week.   Children may bring one thing from home to show at circle time.   Show and Tell must be small enough to fit in the backpack and suitable for the group (e.g. no guns, swords, dart, etc.).   Please refrain from bringing toys from home on days when your child does not have show and tell.

Conferences

Parent conferences are held in November and January - depending on the age of the child.   You will receive a conference slip the week before stating the date and time.   We look forward to seeing you and having the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress.   In order to be able to discuss your child comfortably, children are not to attend the conference.   If you would like an appointment at any other time during the school year, please drop us a note or call the school office to schedule a time.   We are always here to listen to your questions or concerns.   Parents are also welcome to visit preschool!   We would be very happy to have you visit and share a story or special interest with the class.   Speak to your child’s teacher to schedule a mutually convenient time.

Communications

Parents are kept abreast of policies, procedures, and other information on a regular basis via:   eBoard Link on the school’s website, handbook, yearly calendar, Saint James Pre School Newsletter (monthly issues).   Parents are urged to check the school’s website www.mysaintjames.com   as this site is continuously updated and contains a wide variety of information on activities, events, opportunities, PTA and Development News, and helpful links.
