Welcome

For children, preschool is a happy place for exploring and finding out new things every day. For parents, a preschool should be a place that focuses on learning yet never forgets the importance of fun. A great preschool encourages development but never pushes your child to grow up too fast. Saint James Preschool is just such a place.

Philosophy

Saint James School believes that a developmentally appropriate Catholic preschool experience provides an environment that allows freedom to play, explore and discover the wonders of God’s world in the course of a child-oriented day.   We believe children learn most effectively through sensory experiences and activities that stir the imagination and encourage exploration.

It is essential for children to develop a well-adjusted sense of self in an environment that affords opportunities to attempt new skills and recognizes that learning involves trial and error.   Within the classroom, children freely interact with peers and adults developing a sense of trust and respect for individuals.   By providing a curriculum that integrates all areas of a child’s development, children can learn and reach their maximum potential.

Goals

Saint James Preschool, established in 1992, builds a strong foundation for academic success in the elementary years and beyond.   Developmentally appropriate activities take place in a warm, joyful, nurturing Christian environment.   Our program is designed to provide for the development of the TOTAL child- the physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual aspects.   The atmosphere will be both interactive and engaging, where young children will grow in awareness of God, self, and others.   We want our children to build a positive self-image; explore their natural sense of wonder; discover their creative spirit; learn problem-solving skills; develop self-control and consideration of others; increase coordination, balance, and body image; and know that learning is fun!

Qualified and dedicated staff will work with your child in helping them develop independence and self-control, while gaining new knowledge and friendships.   We strive to make your child’s first experience a positive one, where we meet our young children’s spiritual and academic needs.
