_Social & In-School Events

What makes Saint James extra-special? All the social events we host for our families plus the many in-school extracurricular activities we provide. All these are possible thanks to the many family volunteers. 
   *Events marked with an asterisk require a participation fee for attendees.  

Saint James Golf Outing (SJAA)

Held annually in September, the Saint James Golf Outing is the first major fundraiser for the Saint James Athletic Association. Numerous opportunities are offered for golf and non-golf participants. Information is provided on the date and venue each Spring.

New Family Social (PTA)

An adults-only social event is held in early September for all new families and their mentoring families.   This provides our new families an opportunity to meet many Saint James families and learn all there is to know about Saint James from their peers.   Mentor families are on a volunteer basis and do not receive PFE points.  

Kindergarten Social (PTA)

This event is for current Kindergarten students and their parents. The goal is to provide a social opportunity for all the Kindergarten families to meet.   The event usually takes place in the fall.  

Harvest Family Social* (PTA)

Saint James’ annual fall social event generally occurs on a Saturday evening in mid-October.   Families are invited to a fall-themed party in the Saint James cafeteria, which includes food, desserts, a DJ and games.   All are encouraged to attend in costume.  

Red Ribbon Week (PTA with Administration)

Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized program to educate and promote drug awareness among students in late October.   Activities are coordinated with administration and staff at Saint James.   Saint James participates and coordinates numerous activities during the week including poster contests, giveaways & fun, educational opportunities.   All activities occur during the school day.

Book Fairs (PTA)

Saint James teams up with Scholastic Books for two weekly book fairs, held the week after Thanksgiving and again in the spring.   The book fair is open to students daily during their normal school day as well as during Grandparents Tea and the spring Open House.   Information is sent home with students in advance of the Book Fair so parents have the ability to help choose appropriate books and provide money for students to purchase.

Breakfast with Santa* (PTA)

This event generally occurs the morning of the first or second Saturday in December in the Saint James cafeteria.   Families are invited to enjoy breakfast, participate in games and activities and have breakfast with Santa Claus. 

Secret Santa Shop (PTA)

An inexpensive, safe & fun shopping event for Saint James students to purchase gifts for the holidays for their families. Open during Breakfast with Santa, Grandparents Tea and “New This Year” – shopping opportunities during school hours the first week of December. Information is sent home before the shop is open for parents to assist their children in making a shopping list and appropriate budget. Gifts offered range from $1 - $10. .

Grandparents’ Tea (PTA)

The Saint James Annual Grandparents Tea is held on the Sunday after Breakfast with Santa in the early afternoon, students and their grandparents (or other significant family members in lieu of Grandparents) are invited for beverages and snacks in the Saint James cafeteria. Students are also able to give their grandparents a tour of the school and visit the Saint James book fair in the lobby.  

Basketball Blowout (Royals)

Join Saint James families, friends and staff for a Friday Night Pep Rally. This event showcases the Saint James Boys & Girls JV and Varsity Basketball Teams and our JV and Varsity Cheerleaders. Come out and cheer the Royals (our Saint James Dad’s) as they take on the Red Bank Police Department Basketball Team. Stay on to watch our Basketball Teams play against the staff and parents. Finish the night of fun at Brothers Restaurant in Red Bank, when a percentage of our sales are generously returned to our school (restrictions apply and are advertised via the Online Win Folder) .

Royal’s Game Night (Royals)

Join the Royals on a Friday night in January in the Saint James Cafeteria for fun and competitive family games. Great prizes, activities, food and fun for the entire family.

Ice Skating Party* (PTA)

Saint James’ annual afternoon ice skating party is generally held on a half-day during the winter months. Families are invited to attend an afternoon private ice skating event at the Armory in Red Bank.   

Catholic School’s Week (PTA with Administration)

A week-long celebration historically held the last week of January; it provides the PTA and Saint James Administration the opportunity to showcase our school. Activities include a 2-hour Open Classroom session, where parents are invited to sit in on their children’s classes in session, a luncheon for our Teachers and Staff, an Open House for potential Saint James families and numerous other activities to celebrate with our students. 

Mother/Son Outing* (PTA)

The Saint James annual Mother/Son Outing is historically held in late winter or early spring. This offsite event provides an opportunity for Moms and their sons to socialize with other Saint James families while having a fun-filled afternoon.   Previous events have included Lakewood Blue Claws game, Medieval Times & Yestercades.

After School Clubs* (PTA)

Saint James offers 4 weeks of clubs in late winter after school. Previous clubs have included Legos, Puzzles, Video Editing, Ceramics and Red-Cross Babysitting certification. Clubs are designated by grades, and are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a nominal fee for each club to cover materials costs. Complete details on the clubs are provided via the online WIN folder system in the early winter.   

Sweetheart Dance* (PTA)

Saint James’ annual Sweetheart Dance is historically held in late winter or early spring, this offsite event provides an opportunity for girls and a significant male figure in their lives (father, grandfather, uncle,  etc.) to dress in their Sunday best and join with other Saint James families for lunch, dancing and games.   Professional photographs and flowers are also available during the event.

  Saint Patrick’s Day Adult Social* (PTA)

The annual Saint James Saint Patrick’s Day Social is held in the Broad Street Auditorium on a Saturday night near Saint Patrick’s Day.   This low-cost, adults-only event is open to Saint James families and their friends and family. Enjoy light fare, beer & wine plus music for a fun-filled night with friends.

Mother’s Retreat (PTA)

Hosted by the Saint James Spiritual Committee, join other Saint James moms at an offsite all-day retreat. This wonderful event provides an opportunity for Moms to share together a day of spiritual renewal and connection with God. This event is historically held in March. 

5K Run with the Royals (SJAA)

Held annually in April, the Saint James Athletic Association hosts a 5K Run as their second major fundraiser for the year. Paired with a Fun Run for children, this event reaches out to the entire Monmouth County Running Community. Information is provided each Winter with date, location and sponsorship opportunities.

Mother/Daughter Tea* (PTA)

Saint James’ first annual Mother/Daughter Tea is slated to be held during the spring. Mothers and daughters will have the opportunity to attend a traditional afternoon High Tea.

Field Day (Administration with PTA)

Saint James’ Administration will handle all Field Day events this year to be held over three days (K-2, 3-5 and 6-8) in early June.   

Career Day (PTA)

Held for our middle school students, professionals from our community will come to Saint James and share with our students details regarding their careers.   These include education requirements, daily life in their career and other information to help students see all the different opportunities available to them.

Graduating Class Events (Administration with PTA)

Saint James 8th grade students have numerous events throughout the course of the school year to celebrate their final year at Saint James.  

Spirituality Committee/Food Drives (PTA)
One of Saint James School’s core goals is to give back to our community.   Our Spirituality Committee provides several opportunities during non-school hours for students and families to volunteer within the community.   Past events have included caroling during the holidays, volunteering at the local Ronald McDonald House, volunteering at local food pantries and serving at a local soup kitchen.
